Houston Choral Showcase is formed FROM the community and sings FOR the community. Our singers feel fortunate to be able to share their gift of music with others. As time and resources permit, we have been able to perform for, volunteer with, and donate to a number of worthy causes, some of which are listed below.
A testimonial we received from the Executive Director of “The Center” (serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities) reads as follows:
“One client at The Center was new to our program and struggling to find her place. When the Houston Choral Showcase performance started, she was seated sullenly with arms crossed towards the back of the auditorium. As the show progressed, the singing and dancing engaged her. Staff members watched her progressively uncross her arms, sit forward in her seat, move nearer the front, and then happily clap and sing along. Seeing this breakthrough, The Center staff has further encouraged the client’s musical expression and has watched her transform from shy and reserved to happy and hopeful. She has now found a friend with similar interests and joined an acting troop.”
We thank our dedicated singers and generous supporters who have made this outreach possible. In particular, support has been received from the Albert and Ethel Herzstein Charitable Foundation, the RSMIS Foundation, and the Higginbotham Community Fund.
